-       Peyton brought charges of impeachment to Chris Wassman for his involvement in the article in Patriot on grounds of article 6, subsection 5, bringing any serious scandal and or embarrassment to the organization

-       Peyton notes Chris did not portray positive image for the CRs, concerned about the precedent this sends for lame duck E Board members who are bitter about loosing an election

-       Chris argued in defense of giving Executive Board emails to the GW Patriot, asking “Who did I defame?”

-       Kaitlyn noted that Chris is the still the PR director and should not be publicizing an article which is untrue and inflammatory towards our organization

-       Chris: The reason we are embarrassed is because we allowed this to happen, not because he leaked the information

-       Victor: Actually I am embarrassed that you did this, all of eboard agreed. We never voted to have a sporting event OVER bringing Karl Rove.

-      Will Broman: Chris Oman originally proposed the box at a sporting event idea, so the story was wrong anyway

-       Peyton: I am embarrassed that as the Director of PR you went out of the way to do this to the organization

For his service on President Bush’s election and re-election campaigns, he has become known as “The Architect”. Mr. Rove is now a Fox News contributor, and is also the writer of a weekly op-ed for the Wall Street Journal. He is also the author of the New York Times Bestseller, “Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight.”

Karl Rove is known as a dynamic speaker with extensive knowledge on the American election system and political landscape who regularly draws hundreds of students to campus events. This event is open to the public. Our organizations are pleased to be hosting Karl Rove.

FEC joined meeting
- Chris Oman asked about the absentee ballot issue and suggested that FEC count ballots in front of audience
- Chris does not feel that ballots are going to be fairly counted
- Kevin notes he will discuss these changes in rules with FEC when all members present
- Chris noted we have an issue every year with ballots, so we should do everything we can to ensure transparency

The Family Research Council is being classified as a hate group solely based on its Christian beliefs against homosexuality. The FRC’s goal is to “advance faith, family and freedom in public policy and public opinion.” It is our belief that these values do not constitute “hate speech”, nor should the FRC be banned from campus for articulating beliefs held by many GW students.

The proposed ban on groups like the FRC is a regrettable step in the direction of limiting discussion of opposing viewpoints on social and political issues that is valued and necessary on college campuses. For these reasons, we are asking you to join GW College Republicans in defending the freedom of speech on campus and to hold that the law council’s proposed ban would adversely and purposely affect conservative organizations.
