Main topic- “Membership Dues and Fees”

Will brought up:
Option #1: keep as is
Option #2: $20, lifetime $25 VIP
Option #3: only $25 lifetime

•	You can pay difference to upgrade to VIP if you are currently a lifetime member
•	Seniors have to pay difference not paid ($10)
•	Arguments from around: too confusing,
•	Not enough people want to pay lifetime
•	More money for better receptions
Alex suggested:
•	Need money quickly, election year
Amelia suggested:
•	Only one option $35
•	Maybe $25 for lifetime

Peyton suggested:
•	Only $25 for lifetime

$25 lifetime, NO VIP.
(If you have paid in the past then you will owe $10)
VOTE: Passed- Unanimous!

Brooke is in process of booking future GBM’s, Kick-off, student debates, freshman election spaces, ect.

Next year’s T-shirt topics brought up, but still undecided

Minutes April 23

Last Eboard Meeting

- Kaitlyn addressed and thanked the Eboard for their contributions this year

- Kaitlyn questioned the Twitter password change, asking Chris Wassman if he knew anything

- She noted that she did remove Chris from the Facebook, but not the Twitter

Karl Rove Event

- Poster change by YAF to stock photo that was given by Rove

- Room in Duques – waiting to hear back

- Will placing order for food tomorrow after asking for Co-sponsorship from dining board

Treasurer Report

- Will emailed the current standings of the CR budget

Freshman Reps

- Debate will not be held tomorrow – Dems cancelled

Gun Range Trip

- Successful trip, thanks Amelia!!

Misc

- Amelia shot History Channel show and won

- CI discussed, Amelia sending out dates this week

Publications

- Last CR Monthly being published next week

- Looking for last minute pictures

- Looking for writers – Amelia and John writing

Political Affairs

- John’s event went well

- Victor noted the year went well

Public Opinion

- Peyton brought charges of impeachment to Chris Wassman for his involvement in the article in Patriot on grounds of article 6, subsection 5, bringing any serious scandal and or embarrassment to the organization

- Chris Wassman moved to discuss

- Peyton notes Chris did not portray positive image for the CRs, concerned about the precedent this sends for lame duck E Board members who are bitter about loosing an election

- Chris argued in defense of giving Executive Board emails to the GW Patriot, asking “Who did I defame?”

- Kaitlyn noted that Chris is the still the PR director and should not be publicizing an article which is untrue and inflammatory towards our organization

- Chris: “What about our emails are privileged?”

- Ann Marie: Its about the fact that you went behind our back and intentionally tried to smear the organization. You also have a picture of you mocking the situation

- Chris said that he wanted to make sure next year was not irresponsible so was doing this for that purpose

- Chris: The reason we are embarrassed is because we allowed this to happen, not because he leaked the information

- Victor: Actually I am embarrassed that you did this, all of eboard agreed. We never voted to have a sporting event OVER bringing Karl Rove.

- Will Broman: Chris Oman originally proposed the box at a sporting event idea, so the story was wrong anyway

- Peyton: I am embarrassed that as the Director of PR you went out of the way to do this to the organization

- Chris Wassman resigns for personal reasons

Final comment:

Everyone thanked this years Eboard and is excited for next year

Robert Wood: suggested board does not attempt to air grievances outside of the board next year, especially on blog sites

Listserv –

Debate cancelled by dems

Rove

Washington, DC – In response to the Family Research Council speaking at the George Washington University Law School, a group within the Evening Law Student Association is attempting to ban “hate groups”, as defined by the Southern Poverty Law Center and Anti-Defamation League, from speaking to the George Washington University Law School. It is our belief that this is a misrepresentation of what constitutes hate speech and a violation of the freedom of expression foundational to college campuses.

The Family Research Council is being classified as a hate group solely based on its Christian beliefs against homosexuality. The FRC’s goal is to “advance faith, family and freedom in public policy and public opinion.” It is our belief that these values do not constitute “hate speech”, nor should the FRC be banned from campus for articulating beliefs held by many GW students.

The proposed ban on groups like the FRC is a regrettable step in the direction of limiting discussion of opposing viewpoints on social and political issues that is valued and necessary on college campuses. For these reasons, we are asking you to join GW College Republicans in defending the freedom of speech on campus and to hold that the law council’s proposed ban would adversely and purposely affect conservative organizations.
