This exciting event will give CR members the opportunity to see the Capitol and learn about the inner workings of the legislative process.

Congressman Young represents the 9th District of Indiana, which includes an expansive portion of southern Indiana, including the Indiana University. Even in his first term in the House, the Congressman has had a first-hand role in debate on some of the most controversial legislation of the past year, sitting on both the Budget Committee and the Armed Services Committee. Additionally, he serves on the Armed Services Subcomittees for Seapower & Projection Forces and Oversight & Investigation.

The Congressman attended the Naval Academy, then served his country honorably for the next decade in the Marine Corps until he was honorably discharged in 2000 with the title of Captain. Subsequently, the Congressman went on to earn his MA from the School of Advanced Study in London, and his JD from the University of Indiana.

Congressman Young is married to his wife Jenny, who is also a lawyer. They have four young children: a son, Tucker, and three daughters, Annalise, Abigail and Ava.

We will meet at the the Foggy Bottom Metro stop at 5:45pm to travel to the Capitol.

GWYAF and GWCRs are bringing Congressman Aaron Schock to GW! The Illinois Republican was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2008, and at age 30, is currently the youngest Member of Congress. For the 112th Congress, Schock was appointed to serve on the highly coveted Ways and Means committee. Within the committee, he serves on the Trade, Oversight and Social Security subcommittees. Schock also serves on the committee on House Administration and as the Chairman of the Franking Commission.

Congressman Schock will be participating in a meet and greet reception after speaking. All students are welcome!
