Georgia Senate Runoff Volunteer Trip

11.28 - 12.3 Atlanta, Georgia

Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss is in a runoff election against his Democratic opponent for the Georgia Senate Seat, and the RNC is sending young college republicans to campaign! The possibility of the Democrats getting to sixty senate seats becomes eliminated if they lose this seat, so the Republican Party is focusing all of its efforts on keeping it red.

All expenses are paid, including travel, housing, and food. If people need to change their flight plans to return early from break, we are willing to help cover the costs. We will fly out late Friday night from DC and return early Wednesday morning. Please contact Jake Wolf as soon as possible via email at wolf51@gwmail.gwu.edu or via phone at 315 532 3777.

You can also join the Facebook group.

Senator Trent Lott

The George Washington University College Republicans are pleased to bring former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R - MS) to campus next Monday, October 20 to address an audience of G.W. students! Any and all interested students and faculty are invited and encouraged to attend. Business casual dress attire is encouraged, and please arrive 15 minutes early. No large bags or purses will be allowed into the hall.

Senator Trent Lott became Senate Majority Leader for the Republican Party in 1996, and served as either the Majority or Minority Leader of the Senate Republicans until 2003, when he voluntarily stepped down from his leadership role. He presided and shaped many of the sweeping Republican reforms of the late 1990s. He resigned his Senate seat in 2007, yet is still one of the most influential and respected conservative voices in Washington.

College Republicans target voters in Virginia

From The GW Hatchet

ARLINGTON, Va. - The GW College Republicans did not have to work hard to win over resident Monina Nader during their canvassing trip Saturday here.

She already displays side-by-side pictures of President George W. Bush and Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain on her refrigerator.

But in the battle for votes in the highly contested presidential race in Virginia, the CRs tried to get every moderate and Republican to come out for McCain on Election Day.

About 20 CRs traveled to the McCain national headquarters in Arlington where the group convened before heading door to door through the surrounding neighborhoods to promote their candidate.

Virginia’s role in the election became even more critical this year, as it has allowed early voting - polls around Virginia open for voting on Friday. This change has caused both parties to double their campaign efforts.
