Fall 2009 GOPAC Internship
Founded in 1978, GOPAC is the leading independent organization dedicated to Republican campaign training, grassroots activism, and issue advocacy at the state and local levels.
GOPAC is currently seeking applicants for Fall 2009 Internships. Ideal candidates are undergraduate students with solid academic records, strong writing, research, and communication skills, as well as an interest in public policy. Knowledge of word processing and database software is important. Background of coursework in history, political science, economics, journalism, or mass communications a plus. The duration of the internship is negotiable, but for the best experience, interns should stay for a minimum period of one semester. This internship will work with class schedules but does require approximately 12-15 hours a week. The position is unpaid, but academic credit can be arranged.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Gathering and organizing data on elections, seminars, and candidates
- Maintaining an extensive contact database
- Assisting with management of regular meetings and other events
- Assisting with incoming and outgoing mailings
The ideal candidate possesses the following:
- A strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Familiarity with all Microsoft programs
- Excellent written and verbal communications
- A commitment to the future of the Republican Party
