College Republicans Mourn Passing Of Jack Kemp
Members of the George Washington University College Republicans were saddened by the passing away of former U.S. Senator and Vice Presidential candidate Jack Kemp this Saturday.
Jack Kemp brought a unique personality and dedication to the Republican Party that earned him the respect of both the G.O.P. and the conservative movement. As a former football captain for the San Diego Chargers and the Buffalo Bills, and as a congressman and senator from New York, Kemp took his leadership skills wherever his life’s journey took him.
Even though he lost the Republican nomination in 1988 and was defeated in 1996 as the Republican vice presidential candidate, Kemp never gave up on the Republican Party, continuing to advocate for tax reform and reaching out compassionately to minorities and the poor.
Former Senator Kemp was a strong voice in American politics for decades, and a true public servant. The GW College Republicans were deeply honored to have had the privilege of hosting Senator Kemp in the Spring of 2006. His presence will be sorely missed.
